With everything that's been happening with Activision Blizzard on both business and legal levels, it's easy to forget that the company still has a number of video games in development. Indeed, titles like Diablo IV and Overwatch 2 are still very much in the works, even though setbacks within the company have quite clearly had an impact on development cycles, and, more importantly, the employees that work there.
It's Diablo IV that Blizzard has provided a new update for. An official blog post breaks down the game's environments and how they're being created. It's an in-depth and interesting read — mostly because the anticipated sequel is a lot bigger than its predecessors, taking Diablo's brand of loot-heavy action RPG to an open world setting.
The main talking point here is that Diablo IV is effectively split up into five distinct regions, with over 150 procedurally generated dungeons scattered throughout them. These dungeons boast dynamic weather and lighting systems, as well as loads of finer details that should help set each location apart. It all sounds fairly ambitious — especially for Diablo — but we'll obviously have to wait and see how it all pans out. It's still going to be quite some time until this one's ready for a PlayStation release.

It's hard to be too excited for this game at the moment considering it's dev team is run by a bunch of scumbags and might not even come to playstation at all.
Yeah i like diablo and want to get excited for this, but would like to know if its actually coming to my preferred console first.
It's definitely coming to the PS5 and PS4.
idk about diablo or whatever , but overwatch 2 ? yes please ! 😩
On the one side, we have 150 procedurally generated dungeons. On the other, we have 700 reported incidents of sexual harassment and discrimination. But which is better? There’s only one way to find out…
@nessisonett What's Mr Blobby representing?
@nessisonett Took the words right out of my mouth.
@Rural-Bandit Yeah, tell that to Bobby Kotick who’ll be raking in the blood money. You can’t pick and choose who you’re supporting with your purchase when the ‘good eggs’ have already been paid. Sales of games only go towards shareholders and execs. It literally makes zero difference to 99% of devs whether you buy the game or not. Obviously spend your money how you like but it’s fairly disingenuous to try and write off a clear toxic fratboy atmosphere that extends across the entire company as ‘bad apples’.
@Enuo oh it will definitely come to playstation, it's blizzard were talking about here you think they would miss out on a chance for more money.
If it's not a phone game then you can count me out.
@Uromastryx You could say the same thing about Bethesda. And look what happened to Starfield.
Blizzard is on Phil Spencer's leash now, and Phil is a notorious liar who love taking games away from people.
And here we go..first off nobody knows if its the same team working on this or if any of this team were involved in all the horror storys eminating from the tinternet pages..seeing as the game is well into its development cycle its unlikley that its been canned for the ps4/ps5..i'm looking forwards to diablo with an emphasis on looking forwards and not dwelling on the past negatives surrounding activision/blizzard...should such behaviour be accepted or forgotten? Hell no but we should be able to learn and move on..seems the usual pillars of moral society on push square cant do that..or have no desire to..
@Rural-Bandit i have to say that your comments are spot on..i'm getting sick and tired of hearing about how bad it is to support the games we love because of a few rotten eggs..and its also a shame that some people on here seem to be able to say exactly what they want about who they want without any recrimination...have a good day bud..👍
I hope that down the line they drop the online requirement if you want to play alone. At least on consoles.
So, do these get generated and then remain fixed if you return? Or generated every time you enter? Hopefully the former.
With the hatred of women this company has continuously been shown to have over the years, I really don't think I would feel at all comfortable playing any of their games now.
Last time Blizzard's "Coming soon" took 3 years. I don't expect D4 will release sooner than 2025. And that doesn't include possibility that Blizzard comes with statement there is need to remake D4 from scratch, because current version is outdated.
If it's procedurally generated, why not have infinite dungeons? 🤷♂️
I used to be really excited for Diablo 3 back in the day, but that turned out to be a huge sh*tshow. Everything blizzard has put out lately has been a miss, along with all the sh*t that's been going on with the company I just can't see Diablo 4 being any good.
I was sort of lukewarm to Diablo 3. It just didn't replicate the magic of Diablo 2 for me, so I can't say I care all that much about Diablo 4 at the moment.
@nessisonett GIFs you can hear
Sony will turn into Nintendo. You buy a Playstation for Sony games and a Switch for N games.
You buy an Xb or PC for all the other games and whatever is MS exclusive.
The question will be for me; When does this come out and does the XB have crossplay with PC. IF it's THIS gen and the XBSX crossplays with PC (my group was PC but I don't care to upgrade) then my PS5 is getting sold and I'm moving over to MS.
Sorry Sony; you played with being anti-consumer for way too long.
@Rural-Bandit I would love it Sony would make its own COD Style game that was what I wanted.
buying all those studios is easy if you have the money it is making games that is hard & Sony is at the top of its game on that front like it or not.
@sword_9mm then you woke up & it was breakfast time😂 comments like yours are such disingenuous claptrap!! you sound corny find something better to do.🤦♀️
Can't wait for this one!
Definite day 1 purchase for me here no question.
@Milktastrophe top comment 👍
@David187
No crossplay no dice. This should be mandatory for all consoles.
tiny tina does it thankfully. I hope Diablo does too since no way I'm upgrading a PC. If Diablo is crossplay on XBSX with PC but not PC to PS5 then I'll have to move over to the green team.
Gamepass is also a consideration since Sony's thing is pretty bogus imo.
Wow 150 times they have copy pasted their code and hit “randomly generate”. That’s awesome.
In the meantime I’ll be playing the hand crafted dungeons in Elden Ring
@sword_9mm sure 🤦♀️
I have owned every Diablo PlayStation and PC. I have 6 Physical World of Warcraft collectors editions for PC played it almost exclusively from day one ongoing for 8 years. I am not going to miss Diablo 4 because of 5 people out of hundreds of employees!
Most people have enough to do just taking care of there own House, Family and inner circle without worrying each person at big corporations that they happen to buy goods at does.
@David187
OK
@Rural-Bandit Russia probably has a lot of nice people but im still happy the EU for once stood their ground a put up sanctions.
@Rural-Bandit I eally dont see a issue with these things coming together. Sometimes there will be bad stuff that come in your favorite things and these things should be adressed. Maybe in some strange world stuff will eventually be adressed.
Nothing to do with fanboys or political stuff since when is human decency a thing that should be adressed by our political leaders?
If the hardcore gamer or sportsfans would dictate how we look at things then the world would be full with abuse. Because yeah i dont want to miss my game just because some people get abused, taken advantage off, die, commit suïcide maybe my game would come out a little later.
As big gamer i love them really a lot but in the end there is more in the world then games.
@Rural-Bandit there is more to life than gaming? Say it aint so...just kidding as my main hobby is golf followed rather abruptly by my gaming..i also play bass guitar to a good standard (anybody want a slap/pop face off?) And i have to agree with you that whilst world events at the moment are pretty grim politics should really be left out of a gaming sites comments sections unless somebody starts up a relevant thread..i think we can all very clearly see where i stand and there is no need for me to draw any further attention to it..games are my escapism and engaging with most of you on here is really great and we can have some great discussions and a bit of banter..not so much with a fair few others...weekends upon us so lets all have a good one..
@Rural-Bandit very well said
@Rural-Bandit 👍
